Florists prep for Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is on its way.
Florists are scurrying around trying to get orders in early for their biggest holiday of the year in case bad weather strikes this weekend.
Other than the weather factor, Garrison expects it to be about the same as it always is every year.
Owner Polly Shelton and florist Angie Thorn of Russellville Florist on Alabama 43 believe the sooner you call the better.
Shelton said the economy being down shouldn’t play a factor in sales.
Angie and Ted LeMay, who own Village Florist, recently stretched their business into Red Bay, buying out what use to be “Consider the Lilies” located in the downtown district.
Ted LeMay said business has been slower than usual, but has really started to pick up the last couple of days.
All local florists plan to make deliveries to schools and businesses on Friday, and then make residential deliveries and greet walk-ins on Saturday.
The Blossom Shop, at its new location in downtown Russellville behind Five Star Pizza, plans to keep its doors open on Sunday for all the procrastinators waiting to the last minute to get gifts.
