Kicking Addictions

Whenever people think about addictions they immediately think about drugs. This is not always the case. There can be many addictions in life such as blowing money or watching movies and television shows.
Have you ever felt like you were just loosing money and had no idea what was happening to it? Grabbing a burger here and there and going out for a big meal on the weekends can really take its toll on a person’s funds. The key to this situation is just to simply pay more attention to where the money goes and see if you can cross off some of those trips.
I think the biggest battle I have been facing lately is “couch potatoitis.”
Do you ever find yourself watching a movie that appears on television over and over again? I do, and my wife gets agitated with me and tells me to change the channel because I’ve seen the same movie 20 times. I’m not sure what causes me to get involved in the same movie multiple times. Maybe I am looking for something I might have missed, maybe I am just simply watching because I enjoy it or maybe I am addicted to television and it is the only thing on that is any count. Some of the cable networks are worst than others, playing movies over and over again.
Television shows can be really addicting too. Sometimes I find myself planning around the television schedule instead of actually trying to get done with what I need to get done like getting groceries, taking out the trash or eating dinner. My wife and I use to not be that way, we lived far apart and most of our time was spent on the road to go and see each other. Now that we are married, we have our whole week planned out, so we can catch our favorite shows Monday thru Friday. We have tried incorporating some card games in here and there but it has never really worked. We will have a new addition to the family come April, so I figure we won’t have that schedule anymore after our little girl arrives. The point I’m trying to make is that everyone has a degree of will power. I believe everyone has enough of it to overcome whatever the addiction may be. Whether or not we use it is entirely up to us.
