RHS' Evans discharged after injury

A Russellville High School football player who was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital Monday afternoon after suffering a head injury during practice has been discharged according to a hospital official.
Brett Evans, a junior, was practicing in the shoot – a device to help train linemen how to stay low at the snap of the ball – when he hit his head and fell over backwards.
Observers of the incident said he was unresponsive for a short period of time.
"He was not responding and they were afraid it was a spinal injury," said Evans' grandmother, Betty Moore. "Finally there was a little response and they thought it would be best to send him to the trauma center."
Russellville coach Doug Goodwin said Evans returned to practice Tuesday, but did not participate. He watched from the sidelines.
