PHIL CAMPBELL – In a battle of teams seeking their first win of the season, it was Clements that came out victorious.
The Colts (1-2, 1-1) jumped out to an 8-0 lead early, but Phil Campbell was able to answer.
The Bobcats (0-3, 0-2) recovered a fumble with 5:36 remaining in the first quarter, and Dylan Kastberg scored 20 seconds later. Jeff White found Brent Whitten on the 2-point conversion to tie the game.
Clements added another score later in the quarter, but the 2-point conversion failed. The Colts added another score on a 37-yard pass to pull ahead 20-8.
Matt Waid intercepted a Colts' pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown with three minutes remaining in the half and Kastberg's run on the 2-point conversion was successful to cut Clements' lead to 20-16.
The Colts added a late score and a 2-point conversion to build a 28-16 lead at halftime.
Clements struck again with 7:53 to play in the third with a 5-yard scoring pass.
Two minutes later White completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Waid and scored on the 2-point play to round out the scoring for Phil Campbell.
