Tanner tops PC 56-14

By Staff
TANNER – Tanner (2-0, 2-0) took care of business against Phil Campbell, earning a 56-14 victory in the region opener for both teams.
Phil Campbell's first drive stalled at the Tanner 43-yard line, but a muffed punt on the Tanner 12 set up the first score of the night for the Bobcats (0-2, 0-2).
The Rattlers answered with a 68-yard drive ending with a 25-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-6 lead
Tanner added three more touchdowns before halftime.
The Rattlers opened the second half with a 92-yard kickoff return as the start of a rough second half for Phil Campbell.
The Tanner defense picked off a pair of passes, returning both for touchdowns.
The Bobcats added a late score and converted the two-point conversion, but it was too little too late.
Phil Campbell hosts Clements (0-2, 0-2) next week in the Bobcats' home opener. Both teams will be looking for their first region win of the season.
