Vina seeks win streak against SC

By Staff

VINA – Being in a six-team region, the 2009 Vina football team has a great chance to reach the playoffs for the first time since 1998.
The Red Devils open their region schedule this week when they travel to Shoals Christian for what will be an important game for both teams.
With only five region games on the schedule, both squads need a win.
Last year, Vina topped the Flame 22-13. Shoals Christian had lost several starters from the 2007 squad that went deep in the Class 1A playoffs.
The Flame will not have that problem this year. Shoals Christian only lost three seniors from last year.
Both teams will be evenly matched on the depth chart, however, as each squad has less than 25 players – which means there will be plenty of players playing each side of the ball.
Vina would like to win this game and earn a two-game win streak against their region foes and take its first step towards the playoffs.
