Rachel Huckaba Smith

Rachel Huckaba Smith, 77, of Russellville, Ala. passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Russellville Hospital.
Funeral services were held June 25, 2009 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Donnie Borden officiating. Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mary Prince Huckaba; and husband, Hassie Jackson Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Welch and husband, Bobby, of Russellville; grandson, Bentley Jackson Welch, of Russellville; brothers; Wilmer Huckaba, of Russellville, Gresham Huckaba and wife, Geraldine, of Haleyville; sisters, Linda Sue Huckaba, Brenda Huckaba, both of Russellville; several nieces and nephews; several cousins; and special pets, Ralphie, Sallie and Peanut.
Pallbearers were Billy Joe Wilson, Ricky Patterson, Michael Vandiver, Skylar Vandiver, Cody Patterson and Billy Patterson.
She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed. Mom, you are with Daddy now, go rest in your heavenly reward.
Oran Wallace "Kat" Carroll

Oran Wallace "Kat" Carroll, 66, of Florence passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Tuscumbia, Iron Workers Local 477, American Legion Post 146, in Loretto, Tenn., AA Member Turning Point, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 5 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Atlas Church of Christ Cemetery. Military funeral honors will be accorded at grave side. Jack Coons and John McGee will officiate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Bedford and Willard Irene Hester Carroll; father and mother-in-law, Buford T. and Clara Stutts McGee; brother, James Bedford Carroll; sister, Betty Jo Kimbro.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia McGee Carroll; son, Robert Wallace "Robbin" Carroll and wife, Leslie, of Sheffield; daughters, Melanie Woods and husband, Jerry, of Killen, Rhonda Pell, of Russellville; brothers-in-law, John McGee, of Montgomery, Owen McGee, of Florence; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McGee, of Florence, Marie Carroll, of Barton; grandchildren, Alisha Cannon, Timothy Cleveland, Tanya Thornton, Tabetha Cleveland, Bailey Carroll, David Gist and Lauren Gist; great-grandchildren, Tanner Cannon, Titus Thornton and Tripp Cleveland; his special loving pets, Gizmo, Cassie and Prissie.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Cleveland, Matt Thornton, Keith McGee, Owen McGee, Joseph Cannon, Mike Lindsey, Byron Bridges and Ralph Roden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Woods, Wade Pride, Bart Jeffreys, Dr. Shelby Bailey, Dr. Carmichael and Dr. Jerry Williams.
Glenice Blanche "Nini" Elkins

Glenice Blanche "Nini" Elkins, 95, of Russellville, formerly of Sheffield, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Russellville Hospital. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Russellville.
The visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Coy Marbutt. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Malcolm H. Elkins; parents, Milas and Minnie Lansford; and brothers, Hayes Lansford and S.D. Lansford.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Williams and husband, Bill, of Russellville; grandchildren, Denise Gray and husband, Buddy, of Russellville, Chuck Rainey, of Sheffield, Chrissy Cooper and husband, Niles, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Gregg Gray and wife, Erin, of Athens, Christopher Cooper, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Gray, Niles Cooper, Gregg Gray, Christopher cooper, James Ayers and Bill Thrasher. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewight Lowery, Tommy Thorn, Steve Elkins, Hayes Lansford, Jr. and Morgan King.
Dorothy V. Mitchell Taylor

Dorothy V. Mitchell Taylor, of Phil Campbell, Ala. passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Joe Holmes and Bro. Wayne Boyles officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Patrick Odom, Billy Joe Mitchell, Donald Hovater, Glenn Swinney, Tim Frederick, Dural Swinney. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Mitchell, Frank Mitchell, Ryan Evans, and David Duke.
She was preceded in death by husband, Rufus Wilmer Taylor; parents, Joseph Mitchell and Ida Galloway Mitchell; brothers, Bob Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Lem Mitchell, Byron Mitchell, Fred "Ted" Mitchell; sisters, Marcine Swinney, Maud Duke, Dessie Britton, Mattie Moon.
She is survived by daughters, Ann Taylor Evans, Susan T. Odom and husband, James Ronald; grandchildren, Amy D. Odom, Patrick J. Odom, Ryan T. Evans; great-grandchild, Parker J. Odom; sisters-in-law, Edna Mitchell and Vicki Taylor Mitchell.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Phil Campbell and was a long time member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Randy Pounders, Dr. Jerry Williams, Helen Keller Hospital 4th floor nursing staff, Russellville Hospital ER staff and Phil Campbell Rescue Squad.
