Getting my batteries recharged

By Staff
Melissa Cason
Last week, I did something unusual. I didn't get up early. I didn't go to bed on time. I didn't even wear any make up. That's because I was busy getting my batteries recharged.
My family took our annual vacation last week. We always take at least one week out of the year, and get back to the basics of being a family. We eat together, and have fun together.
It's about the only time of year my kids decide there are better things to do beside watch T.V.
This year, we decided to venture back to Florida. We spent a week in Orlando doing the tourist thing. It was great.
We rode different kinds of rides, drove go-carts every day, and spent some quality time basking in the warm Florida sun. And of course, we did go see Mickey. No trip to central Florida would be complete without visiting at least one Disney theme park.
We went to the Animal Kingdom this year. It was great. We all had a good time even though the crowds at Disney were very large.
Besides doing the family thing, the trip gave me the opportunity to get rested and recharged to come back here and get back to work.
After just a few days without using my cell phone, being on the Internet or watching TV, I realized a get-a-way is what I have been craving for quite some time.
I was long overdue for a day sitting beside a beautiful pool while my kids played in the water. While I was gone, I didn't work or clean anything.
Now that I'm back at work, I feel much more energized, and less tired. There have even been comments about how 'rested' I look now.
While I am rested now, I can almost bet it won't last too long between work and my boys' extracurricular activities. I may need another vacation in June.
