Government should take back bail out money

By Staff
As millions of Americans struggle through one of the most difficult economic times in close to a century, some large corporate executives have cashed in thanks to our government's generous bail out program.
Executives from AIG, an insurance company who lost over $60 billion in the last quarter, received over $100 million in bonuses as the company tail-spinned further out of control.
President Barack Obama and Congressional leaders are now making an effort to recoup the money used for bonus payments by AIG officials.
In a time when we are all looking for strong leaders who make the right decisions, this could be a time for them to step up. Whether they themselves should be blamed for giving the company bail out money in the first place is wide open for debate, it is a positive sign that they are making an effort to re-attain the money.
People working hard day in and day out each day of their lives more often than not deserve bonuses when at all possible.
But when your company is losing billions, that's billions with a "b," no executive should be paid a bonus, especially when it comes straight from the American people.
