Mayor to sign proclamation for National Assisted Living Week

Russellville mayor Johnny Brown will read a proclamation declaring the week of Sept. 7-13 National Assisted Living Week Friday, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
"One of our special treats is the proclamation signing by Mayor Brown. We are bring our residents to the mayor's office to watch him sign the proclamation, and we have also invited the residents of Southern Manor to come with us," said Betty Chesnut, managing director of Country Cottage. "We would love for the community to join us as we show our dedication to resident care."
Residents and staff at Country Cottage will celebrate the 14th annual National Assisted Living Week. The purpose of this week is to highlight the special role assisted living communities play in society and show how these communities aid in helping older citizens maintain a positive quality of life. Country Cottage prides itself on its ability to foster meaningful and long-lasting relationships between homemakers and residents. Homemakers work exceptionally hard to assist residents with daily tasks while allowing the residents to preserve their dignity and self-respect and maintain a level of independence.
"To celebrate Assisted Living Week, we are opening our doors to the community to thank them for their support," Chesnut said. "We want to show folks what a difference assisted living makes in the lives of caregivers and their loved ones."
Cottage residents will also enjoy fun-filled activities during the week to celebrate the dedicated care and respect between homemakers and residents.
