Thanks for help in wake of Gustav
By Staff
Franklin County always seems to step up to the plate and help whenever it's needed.
It has been needed this week.
County residents have been helping Hurricane Gustav evacuees at Northwest-Shoals Community College since the weekend.
A group of displaced residents from Houma, La., forced to seek a place to stay in the wake of the pending storm, found their way to Franklin County.
County residents jumped in just the same way three years ago when Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast.
It is always encouraging to know that county residents are eager to offer their time and care for people they do not even know.
If we are ever faced with our own natural disaster here, it is our hope that others will step in to help us.
Tragedy can strike at any time.
We have been fortunate to avoid such a disaster, but who knows when we will be the ones looking for someone to offer a helping hand.
