L.V. Murray, 91, of Haleyville was born in Franklin County. She passed away Aug. 19, 2008. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hackleburg.
Visitation and funeral services were held Aug. 21 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. The burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Taylor; husband, Doyal; daughter-in-law, Peggy Nix; brother, Tony Frederick; sisters, Vernon Stegall, Faye Stone, Jean Taylor and Ann Berry; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolen Murray; parents, Andrew and Lucy Frederick; daughter, Kathy Page; son, Larry Nix; and several brothers and sisters.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Robert Pettey
August 19, 2008
Robert "Bob" Pettey, 66, died Aug. 19, 2008 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born June 29, 1942 in Decatur to Robert O. and Myrtle Waddell Pettey Sr. He was a lab and X-ray technician for 28 years and was a member of Believers Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Services were held Aug. 21 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Harold Ozbirn and Bro. David Corum officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Pettey; sons, Robin Pettey and Scott Pettey (Bridget) of Red Bay; daughter, Christy Hellums of Red Bay; sister, Frances Claybough of Decatur; niece, Jenny Workman (Tony) of Decatur; grandchildren, Kaleigh Hellums, Emily Pettey, Tiffany Pettey and Skylar Pettey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, June Grant.
Pallbearers were David Tiffin, Tony Horton, Alec Page, Hershel Graham, Phillip Hardin and Allan Boyd. Honorary pallbearer was Glynn Duncan.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Thomas Mather

Mr. Thomas R. Mather of Phil Campbell passed away Aug. 21, 2008.
The visitation and funeral services were held Aug. 23 at Akins Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Jim Poss officiating. Interment was in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Williams McMahan, and granddaughter, Jenna Marie Presley.
Pallbearers were Joey Motes, Danny Cleveland, Edward Summeral, Boyd Ganger, Phillip Lucas and Jake Presley.
He was blessed with a loving wife, Brenda; 11 children, Phillip (Ashly), Tina Moreno, Billy Mather and Bridgett Caldwell, Rhonda (Ernest) Presley, Tammy (Jeff) Hutcheson, Tom (Becky), Lori (Cliff) Cremeen, Ray (Lisa), Regina Richie, Jan Place and Roy (Rose); 16 grandchildren, Tori Mather, Gabi and Tre Moreno, Kelley Presley, Mia Hutcheson, Adria, Amber and Cole Cremeen, Troy (Marlana) Mather, LaTina Overton, Bryan, Joseph Adams, Jonathon Richie, Justin and Steven Mather and Brandon Place; six great-grandchildren, Landon and Lucas Mather, Cambria Overton and Emma Clair Cremeen and Jyllian and Kane Adams.
He was a member of Spruce Pine Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, wonderful Dad, and the No. 1 Papa; and he will be greatly missed.
Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
