The Franklin County Worthless Check Unit has devoted the month of August to clearing up bad check warrants.
Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said the office has hundreds of un-served warrants that need to be served.
"We are using our office's resources and other law enforcement's resources to find the people wanted for writing bad checks," Rushing said.
To date, dozens of warrants have been served since Aug. 1, and officers plan to continue to serve them daily until to get the backlogged cases cleared up.
"This is the first check round up we've had in over a year," Rushing said. "And we had fallen behind on getting warrants served."
Rushing said anyone who has written bad checks in Franklin County should contact the unit at 332-8874 to make payment arrangements or they will be arrested.
"We are willing to work with people in order to keep them out of jail for bad checks, but they have to make arrangements with us, and keep that commitment," Rushing said.
Rushing also reminds that there is no statue of limitations on bad checks, and regardless of when they are written those responsible for passing them can still be arrested.
