The world of newspapers, like most all other things, is constantly changing.
While in college just a few years ago, we learned about writing stories and shooting photos using film.
Today, just about six or seven years later, that is unheard of. All photography is shot with digital cameras and instantly put onto our computers. It makes things much easier, especially for those of who might need to shoot several pictures to get a good one.
Another fast changing aspect of the business has been the development and wide use of Internet sites. Almost all newspapers throughout the country, regardless of size, have a site dedicated to their paper.
We are constantly striving here to make www.fct.wpengine.com more informational and more accessible to you and our readers around the world. Sometimes we forget how far reaching the power of the Internet is.
This past week I was told about a man who had moved to Florida from Russellville several years ago. But he still cares about this area and regularly visits our website to check on his old stomping grounds.
The vast changes in technology have been a wonderful, although scary thing. You never know what might come at you next.
But, here at the FCT, we are getting set to take on a new venture ourselves.
As we work to enhance the things we have to offer, we will soon provide you with a website full of photos. It will contain galleries filled with pictures that we shoot while working on a story as well as providing you with an opportunity to upload photos that you have taken.
Like you, we want to see our family, friends and neighbors as they celebrate birthdays, weddings and just family time. The ability to share photos online has become popular throughout the country and we are excited that Franklin County residents will soon have that opportunity.
But, we are as equally excited that we will now be able to share more photos that we shoot. It is difficult to choose which photos we run in the paper when there are many people involved. We would love to have everyone's picture in there but that is not possible.
In the coming weeks we will share more with you about our site and hope that you will all take advantage of it. More and more people will be able to find their loved ones' smiling mugs on the Internet.
It is just one more thing we are trying to offer the people of Franklin County.
