Carnie Grimes

Bishop Carnie Eugene Grimes, 77, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at his residence in Golden, Miss. He was born September 18, 1930 in Prentiss County, Miss., to R.J. and Maudine Ivy Grimes.
He was a longtime resident of the Banner community in Itawamba County, Miss. He was the Alabama-Mississippi state overseer and pastor of the Red Bay Church of God on Hwy. 11. He worked for many years as a mechanic at Blue Bell and Winfield Manufacturing Co. He loved fishing with his brothers and playing music. He played gospel bluegrass at several area television and radio stations over the years, most recently at Red Bay's WRMG, hosted by Jack Ivy.
Services were held August 2 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bishop Danny Patrick and Bishop Roger Senter officiating. Burial was in Dennis Memorial Gardens in Dennis, Miss.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Grimes of Golden, Miss.; daughters, Sarah Ozbirn (Lowell) and Kayren Todd of Golden, Miss. and daughter, Rhonda Spencer (David) of Belmont, Miss.; stepson, Jerry Morris (Barbara) of Belmont; brothers, Shelton Grimes and Earl Grimes of Russellville and brother Boyd Grimes (Mary) of Fairview, Miss.; sister, Jewel Sides of Red Bay; grandchildren, Scotty Ozbirn, Jason Ozbirn, Amy Comi, Tyler Todd, Tasha Grimes, Jennifer Higginbottom, Catina Hinton, Carrie Fowler and Jessica Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Scotty Ozbirn, Jason Ozbirn, Doyle Townsend, Ricky Parker, Larry Grimes and Steve Grimes. Honorary pallbearers were Ellis George, Jack Ivy, Larry Johnson, Euland Prueitt and David Webb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Faye Parker; and soon, Danny Grimes.
Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
Barbara Ann Lindley
August 1, 2008
Barbara Ann Lindley, 68, passed away Aug. 1, 2008 at her residence. She was born September 24, 1939 in Dennis, Miss., to James Howard and Lillie Mae Wilson Jones. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kieffer Billy Lindley and nine brothers and sisters.
Services were held August 3 at Grace Baptist Church in Red Bay with Bro. Greg Blanton officiating. The burial was in Halltown Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Lindley of Iuka, Miss., and Alan Keith Lindley, Jeff Lindley and Michael Lindley of Red Bay; grandchildren, Joshua Crumpler, Kimberly Nicole Crumpler and Keitha Brook Lindley; great-grandchildren, Kailey Faith Derby, Amber Grace Carter and Morgan Michelle Gann; and sisters Peggy Meyers and Joyce Jones.
Pallbearers were Joshua Crumpler, Brandon Carter, James Brents and Jonathan Humphres.
Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
Jerry R. Lewey II
August 2, 2008
Jerry Robert (Robby) Lewey II, 29, of Russellville, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his residence.
He was a native of Nashville but lived all his life in Franklin County. He was an employee of the Franklin County Waste Management Department and was a member of the Baptist Church.
The funeral service was Aug. 5 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville, with burial in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Jane Hester of Nashville, special aunt and uncle, Villious and Shiela Lewey of Russellville; sisters, Cindy Phillips of Tuscumbia, Cynthia D. Humphres of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Frankie D. Melton of Smyrna, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers were co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry R. Lewey Sr.

Ruth M. Brooks
August 3, 2008
Ruth Marlene Brooks, 72, of Bear Creek, passed away Aug. 3 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville. She was a retired LPN and worked at Burdick West Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of Bear Creek No. 1 Baptist Church.
The funeral service was held Aug. 5 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bros. George Jones, Olen Burcham and James Bishop officiating. Burial was in Bear Creek No. 1 Baptist Church Cemetery in Bear Creek.
She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Berry of Bear Creek; grandchildren, Jacob and April Berry of Bear Creek; and sister, Deen Jones of Pontotoc, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Viola Estelle Brooks and sister, Ada Jane Brooks.
Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville assisted the family.
