Northwest-Shoals Community College has a free solution for adults needing their general equivalency diplomas or an edge in the job market.
The college's Adult Education Program offers free classes for the GED exam and English as a Second Language, along with the opportunity to earn career readiness certificates through the Career Ready Alabama and Ready to Work programs.
"We have classes all over our district," said Donnie Sweeney, adult education director for Northwest-Shoals. "These classes are free of charge and people can join the classes at any time. Our classes are not traditional because we have people who are working at their own rate with their own material, with an instructor to help if needed."
In Franklin County, adult education classes are offered in Russellville, Red Bay and Phil Campbell, while ESL classes are available Monday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reedtown.
For more information, call 331-5440 or 331-8175.
