SYLACAUGA – Russellville 10-11 All-Star coach Wade Wallace was happy with his team's showing at the Little League State Tournament in Sylacauga, even though the team was eliminated in two games.
The All-Stars fell to eventual state champion Westside Mobile 9-5 in their first game at the tourney.
It looked like the team would make an early exit as it faced an 8-3 deficit in the first few innings against Brewton in an elimination game.
The All-Stars rallied to tie the game and force extra innings.
"I am proud of the character of the boys," Wallace said. "They got down and battled back in both games."
Unfortunately, Russellville could not take the lead and lost 9-8 in eight innings.
It ended a season where the All-Stars won their district title.
"They played well and did a great job all the way around," Wallace said.
