Red Bay to host inaugural golf tournament

RED BAY – The Red Bay Quarterback Club will hold a three-man scramble golf tournament Friday, Aug. 8 at the Redmont Country Club.
"This is the first golf tournament we've done, and we're going to try and make it an annual event," Red Bay football coach Dale Jeffreys said. "We wanted to do something where the kids wouldn't have to sell things, and a lot of people enjoy playing golf."
Hole-in-one prizes will include a Ford-150 pickup donated by Family Ford, a vacation package and new set of golf clubs.
"It's going to be a fun day, and we'll also be giving away flat-screen TVs for the putting contest and closest-to-the hole contest," Jeffreys said. "We're hoping to sign up 36 teams for this event."
The cost is $300 per team, and tournament participants will receive a shirt and lunch.
The putting contest will be held at noon, and there will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Tournament proceeds will benefit the Red Bay High School football program.
For more information, contact Jeffreys at (256) 356-9266 or contact Rodney Cash at (877) 454-8827, ext. 212.
