Political season continues

By Staff
Jonathan Willis
So another election season passes.
Well, not really. This has just been the party primaries and we are still looking at the general election in the fall for both the county and national races.
Municipal elections are set for August 26.
City candidates all qualified by Tuesday and are preparing for their races.
So it is one of those wild and crazy political years here locally and across the country.
As a paper we do not endorse any candidates.
What we do, however, is offer each candidate an opportunity to run a free candidate announcement in the paper.
Those give our readers a chance to learn a little about each candidate and what they stand for.
Any candidate who has qualified for a city election, anywhere in the county, may submit an announcement and a photo to us.
Many have already done this, while others, I am sure, were waiting until they qualified.
We will run these until three weeks before the election but not after.
So I hope many out there who have not yet done so will soon submit their announcement forms to us.
It is a good opportunity to share a little about yourself and what you are looking to do for your respective town.
There are many issues facing us at this time so this is a good way to let our readers, the voters, know what you are all about.
Each town in Franklin County has their own unique set of problems and positives and there are many ways of dealing with these issues.
I assume each candidate has their town's best interest at heart or they would not be running.
Hopefully by submitting a standard candidate announcement form each one will be able to share a little about their plans and about their background.
Many larger newspapers interview and recommend candidates they feel the voters should elect.
We do not do that.
What we do is offer each candidate the same opportunity to express themselves one time in our paper.
I hope they all take advantage of that for our readers.
