Group providing weather radios

The Franklin County Fire and Rescue Association is working to raise money that will allow them to provide NOAA weather radios to residents throughout the county.
Members of the association will be at the Russellville Wal-Mart from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday collecting donations.
Michael Moomaw, of Vina, said the money will be used to buy weather radios for county residents, particularly senior adults who may be living alone and in rural areas.
"We are going to be taking applications for those who can receive a radio," Moomaw said.
The county and most municipalities have given money to the association.
The local Resource, Conservation and Development obtained a $9,760 grant for the weather radio drive.
Moomaw expects radios to be given out in August.
Anyone who has a weather radio can have it programmed by one of the fire and rescue workers at Wal-Mart Friday.
Moomaw said they have raised $20,000 but want to continue their efforts so more people are able to get a radio.
"We want to get radios out to as many people as possible," he said.
