Glenda Porter

Glenda Kaye McBride Porter, age 48, of Russellville, died Thursday, July 3, 2008. She was formerly of Florence.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Clint Busler officiating. Burial was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Cliffton Porter, Aaron Cook, Robert McNatt, Greg Bingham and James Bingham.
Ms. Porter is survived by her husband, Ricky Porter; parents, John C. McBryde and Pauline Sego McBryde; daughter, Brettney Rena Porter; son, Cliffton Ric Porter; grandchildren, William Jackson and Allissa Alabama Davis.
Earnest Morgan
July 3, 2008
Earnest Morgan, age 63, of Haleyville, died Thursday, July 3, 2008. He served in the National Guard, worked for Marshall Durbin Feed Mill for 25 years, and was a member of Church of God 7th Day in Phil Campbell.
Funeral services were held Sunday July 6, 2008 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Walter Bennett officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan is survived by daughters, Pamela Jean Morgan and Christy Diane Gonzalos; sisters, Simmie Doss and Lois Sydorick; brother, Mike Morgan; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Earlie and Aslene Morgan; and brother, Joel Morgan.
Aubrey Scott
July 4, 2008
Aubrey Donald Scott, age 65, of Golden, Miss., died Friday, July 4, 2008 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born January 26, 1943 to Don and Myrtle Mink Scott. He was a used car dealer for many years and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Fulton, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 7, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Roger Wood, Bro. William Strawn, Bro. Robert Wood, and Bro. Haskel Sparks officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Scott of Golden; son, Donald Scott of Golden; daughter, Donna Powers (Michael) of Golden; grandchildren, McKinley Scott, Alexis Powers, and Lacie Powers, all of Golden; brother-in-law, Junior Inman (Regina) of Golden; and several aunts and uncles.
Honorary pallbearers included Clyde Osborn, Danny Shipley, James Mink, Junior Inman. Pallbearers included Perry Edge, Mike Underwood, Bro. Jerry Patterson, Bobby Cox, Mike Taylor, and Bro. Scott Wilson.
Larry Branagan
July 5, 2008
Larry Branagan, age 63, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at ECM Hospital. He was a native of New York but lived in Tuscumbia for the past 14 years. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Tuscumbia.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, 2008 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Greg Beasley officiating.
Mr. Branagan is survived by his wife, Brenda R. Branagan of Tuscumbia; children, Shane Michael Branagan; Mr. and Mrs Pete Branagan, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Branagan, Mrs. Margie Brown and husband, Joe, Mrs. Gloria Queen and husband, Gene, Mrs. Pam Neubak; brother, Bud Branagan; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included Greg Shell, Larry James, Brandon McGee, Don Rice, Jr., Steve Hammond, and Robert Ford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Thelma Branagan.
Calvin Riddle
July 5, 2008
Calvin Ray Riddle, age 80, of Houston, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Huntsville Hospital. He was retired from the loggind industry, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in the Moreland Community.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at New Home Baptist Church with Rex Riddle and Chris Riddle officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Riddle is survived by his children, Charles Riddle of Houston, Ronnie Riddle of Decatur, Ricky Riddle of Hartselle, Michael Riddle of Jasper, Debbie Cox of Decatur, Donna Brooks of Decatur, Diane Mitchell of Sumiton, Keith Riddle of Moulton, and Kirk Riddle of Trinity; brother, Dewey Horton of Houston; four step-children; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Calvin and Willie Mae Riddle; wife, Christine Riddle; grandsons, Brad Riddle and Shaun Riddle; great grandsons, Lucas Austin Nelson and Brandon Lee Riddle; and siblings, Raymond Riddle, Bob Riddle, Bill Riddle, Leeler Spillers, Ernest Riddle Trannie Little, Edsel Riddle, Grace Hill, Adell Riddle and Gladys Posey.
Iris Roberts

Iris I.V. (Welborn) Roberts, age 71, of Phil Campbell, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Joe Spillers officiating and eulogy by Edward Sommerfield. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Roberts is survived by children, Olen R. Roberts and wife, Martha, of Spruce Pine, Kenney L. Roberts and wife, Iris, of Haleyville, Billy Wendale Roberts and wife, Debbie, of Guntersville; Sandra Kay Sommerfield and husband, Edward, of Medford, Oregon, Terry Roberts, K. Ray Roberts; brother, Edward, Welborn of Phil Campbell; grandchildren, Jeremy Roberts, Brandon Roberts, Tyrah West, Josh Mohandessie, Aaron Lessor, Corey Roberts, Gabe Roberts, Matthew Sommerfield; great-grandchildren, Joseph West III, Hannah Kate Roberts, Cozette Hartman; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
She was preceded in death by husband, Billy Preston Roberts; parents, Pellum Thornton Welborn and Maggie Emaline Welborn; sisters, Inez Pounders Pugh and Lillian Welborn; brothers, Clefton Welborn, Hubert Welborn, Lloyd E. Welborn, P.T. Jr. Welborn, and A. C. Welborn.
Ara Hester
July 6, 2008
Ara Belle Hester, age 103, of Russellville, died Sunday, July 6, 2008. She was a charter member of the Frankfort Missionary Baptist Church, and belonged to the United Daughters of Confederacy. She was a long standing member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 1-2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home prior to the 2 p.m. service. Bro. Wayne Boyles and Bro. Grady Parrish will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include Rod Johnson, Casey Johnson, Randy McKnight, Larry Greenhill, Graton Hester, and Jordan Boyles.
Ms. Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Hester; parents, John and Elta Mae Rikard; brothers, James G. and Hubert Rikard; and niece, Peggy Rikard.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
