A good team to be part of

By Staff
Jonathan Willis
I have been on the job as publisher of The Franklin County Times for just over two weeks now.
In that time, I have learned many things. More than anything else, I have learned about the quality of people we have working here.
Your community newspaper has some of the hardest working people I know trying their best to make sure you have a quality product each Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.
It is not always an easy job.
It's not always 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. like we all want and it is certainly not always just Monday through Friday.
There is so much more to getting a newspaper out than most folks realize.
It takes hard-working writers, which I believe we have, who want to get to know the community and share others stories.
It certainly takes talented advertising sales representatives whose interest is not only in helping the paper, but also the customer.
Another job that often goes unnoticed is the person who builds the ads and runs the pre-press. It is a job few people can do but it is one that is often thankless.
That is often the case for many people here.
Those whose bylines are not flashed on the front page may not get the thanks that is due them.
Our circulation manager is as good as any at making sure everyone gets their paper on time, and if they don't, he will be there soon delivering it himself.
I can't say enough about our classifieds manager who is doing much more than she probably signed up for when she came to work here.
The men who run the press and the ladies who work diligently inserting the papers so you always have plenty to read are a major part of this paper and we couldn't do anything without them.
In the two weeks that I have been in this position, I have seen how hard they work and their willingness to help a guy who still has plenty to learn himself.
I want to say thanks to Melissa Cason, Kim West, Charles Pounders, Karen McAfee, Nicole Pell, Angie Williams, Peggy Hyde, Alton Zills, Tommy Nichols, Betty Jo Bray, Latisa Suggs, Linda Neuheisel, Courtney Honey and Thomas Douglas.
These people are all working hard to give you the best community newspaper they can.
I am proud to be a part of this team.
Thank you all.
