Russellville Post 64 beats Haleyville 12-1

HALEYVILLE – The Russellville Post 64 team used a six-run third inning to win 12-1 at Haleyville Post 33 Thursday night.
Michael Melton earned the win by not allowing an earned run in seven innings, while Seth Rhudy pitched a scoreless eighth to record the save and also added two hits.
Austin Hulsey took the loss for Haleyville, the defending American Legion district champions. Post 33 scored its lone run on an error in the bottom of the first inning to tie Russellville 1-1.
Thomas Lindsey went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, John Batchelor went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Jesse Green added two hits and an RBI to lead Post 64.
