Billy W. Richardson, 70, of Spruce Pine, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mr. Richardson lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a retired business owner.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Pinkard Funeral Home with Larry Plott officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Survivors include wife, Julie Richardson; children, Charles (Rip) Richardson and wife, Rebecca, Sherri Kennedy and husband, Charles, Dean Richardson and wife, Christine, Tom Richardson and wife, Cosundra; brothers, Jackie Richardson and wife, Bunny, Johnny Richardson and wife, Nell; sisters, Sybil Hedden and husband, Carlyle, Peggy Ashburner Jones and husband, Leverne; grandchildren, Amy Suddith and husband, Curtis, Josh Richardson and wife, Amanda, Heather Davis and husband, Craig, Kevin Richardson, Trent Richardson, Kyle Kennedy, Curt Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Hayden Suddith, River Richardson; step-children, Shay Ledlow, A.J. Ledlow; step-grandchildren, Diane Staten, Sherry Stutts, Charlie Kennedy; 11 additional step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Michael Summeral, Dan Terry, Joe Pride, Wayne Wright, A.J. Ledlow, Mark Richardson.
He was preceded in death by wife, Peggy Webb Richardson; parents, Harris Henry and Jewel Richardson; brother, Bobby Richardson.
Melba Jackson

Melba Jackson, 58, of Tremont, Miss., died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at her residence.
She was born August 14, 1949, in Franklin County to E.L. and Edna Hand George. She was a former secretary with Bay Implement Co. in Red Bay and was a member of Altar Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on June 10, 2008, at Altar Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Reynolds and Bro. Charles Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Jackson, of Tremont, Miss.; four children, Lowell Wayne Jackson and wife, Jennifer, Larry Ray Jackson and wife, Sandy, Chris Jackson and wife, Kim, Sharon Copeland and husband, Bobby; her mother, Edna George; one sister, Delitha Stone and husband, Bill; two brothers, Willie George and wife, Helen, Jerry George and wife, Shanda; special friend, Catherine Mayhall and husband, Charles; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Thurman George, and a sister, Margie Pettigo.
Pallbearers were Thomas Kelton, Wade Humphres, Neal George, Darrell Harp, Hub Humphres and June Holland.
Fred Brown

Fred Brown, 69, of Vina, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Helen Keller Hospital.
He was born December 27, 1938, in Hazard, Ky., to Reuben Brown and Hallie Collette. He was an employee with the state highway department for 27 years and a member of New Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at New Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Issacs and Bro. Greg Philamlee officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louise Brown; one son, Billy Brown and wife, Jackie; one brother, Corbett Brown; two grandsons, Kyle Brown and Austin Brown; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Freddy Brown, a grandson, Cody Brown, and a sister, Betty Campbell.
Howard K. Hellums

Howard Kenneth Hellums, 81, of Littleville, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Helen Keller Hospital.
He was a native of Franklin County, but had lived in Littleville for the past several years. He was an Army veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 16, 2008, with Rev. Larry E. Montgomery officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Hellums; son, Marlin Landers and wife, June; grandson, Mark Landers; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Franklin and Lula Hellums.
