Beware of rumors

As the City of Russellville deals with personnel issues regarding a police officer allegedly tasing an inmate we urge everyone to not rush to judgment.
The rumor mill travels swiftly in small towns. The thing about rumor mills are they are more concerned with speed than they are accuracy.
Should this officer be deemed guilty of these actions, he will be dealt with according to city and departmental guidelines.
That could likely include a number a disciplinary actions and we are sure the department will act swiftly should they find cause to do so.
However, this school of thought isn't isolated to just this one series of events.
Thanks to the Internet, we live in a day and age where you can find just about anything your looking for – factual or otherwise.
It becomes increasingly important to temper our opinions with facts we can substantiate.
In all walks of life, remember a little saying most of us probably heard from our grandmothers, "take that with a grain of salt."
