Smoke due to training fire

Traffic along Highway 43 slowed to crawl yesterday as motorists watched thick black smoke pour into the air near the intersection of Highway 43 and 48.
The smoke was the result of planned demolition and fire department training Russellville Fire Marshal Bobby Malone said.
"It was a scheduled, controlled fire," he said. "We had several departments out here and did some live training."
As many as four departments were on hand to clear the property of several old metal buildings located on Highway 48, behind Kiel Equipment.
