Bettie J. Elasivich

Bettie J. Elasivich, 75, of West Calla Road, Salem went to be with the Lord on Dec. 24, 2007 in Apache Junction, Ariz., where she made her winter home.
Born on January 29, 1932 in Russellville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Jessie M. and Annie M. (Pilgrim) Snider.
Bettie was a 1951 graduate of Russellville High School and a member of the Real Life Assembly of God Church.
Her husband John Elasivich, with whom she would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on Christmas Day, survives her. Also surviving is a son, Larry A. (Lanette) Elasivich of Salem; a daughter, Judy (Dan) Miller of Salem; a stepdaughter, Mary (Arlie) Fowler of Clio, Michigan; sisters, Faye (Bruce) McBrayer of Phil Campbell, Alabama, and Sue (Joe) Garrett of Nashville Tennessee and Brother Tommy Snider of Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Cheryl, Chris, Sonny, Maria, Thomas, Ellie, and Jesse; and five great grandchildren, Amber, David, Marisa, Alec and Garret.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elton, Leonard, Eulis and Albert and a sister, Euler.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Real Life Assembly of God Church with Rev. Carl S. Hayes officiating. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Real Life Assembly of God Church, 12824 S. Salem-Warren Road, Salem, Ohio 44460.
Meallie Pike Stowe

Meallie Pike Stowe, 86, Russellville, Alabama passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Russellville Hospital.
Mrs. Stowe lived most of her life in Franklin County and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Russellville.
The funeral will be Friday, January 4, 2008, 2:00 P.M. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Dennis Steward officiating. Burial will be in Bear Creek No. 1 Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 2 p.m.
Survivors include daughters, Jane Stowe, Russellville, Alabama, Ann Battcher and husband, John, Madison, Alabama; sons, Richard Stowe and wife, Patty, Danny Stowe and Jennifer, Russellville, Alabama; grandson Jeremy Stowe and wife, Cheryl; granddaughters, Suzanne Stowe and Allison Conner; great-granddaughter, Ayla Stowe; sisters, Theoro Clark, Montgomery, Alabama, Bee Clement, Stigler, Oklahoma; brother, Ray Pike, Hayden, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Edward Stowe and son, Guy Stowe. Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.
Peggy Marteil McDonald
December 29, 1940
Peggy Marteil McDonald was born Nov. 10, 1040 in McGhee, Arkansas. She passed away Dec. 29 at the age of 67 years.
The funeral was held Jan. 3 at Lighthouse Holiness Church with Hollis Boyd and Frank Desiderio officiating.
Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery in the Ashridge Community.
She is survived by her husband, W.T. "Dub" McDonald, of Haleyville; son, Leslie McDonald and wife, Shelia, of Haleyville; grandchildren, Heath McDonald, Tyler McDonald and Destiny McDonald; sisters, Karen Garris and Mary Donahue; brothers, Edward Dordon, Deldon Dordon, Nicky Gerald Dordon, Jeffrey Dordon and Kelvin Dordon; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Dorothy Dordon; sisters, Deborah Renfro and Barbara Dordon; brothers, Kenneth Dale Dordon, Donnie Terrell Dordon, O.D. Dordon and Jerry Dean Dordon.
William Arnold Davis

William Arnold Davis was born the son of William Alvis Davis and Blanche Ingle Jan. 19, 1945 in Goodsprings. He passed away Dec. 28 at the age of 62.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Leroy Dutton officiating. Burial followed in Ashbank Cemetery in Nauvoo.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Davis; sons, Gene Davis and William Davis; daughter, Tonya Beverly; brother, Mike Young; sisters, Pam Sinclair and June Copeland; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jennifer, Kristen, Devon, Tyler, Brooke, Hunter, William; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Aiden. He was preceded in death by his father, William Alvis Davis; mother, Blanch Ingle Young; daughter, Samantha Lynn Davis-Hitch; granddaughter, Shelby Hitch; brother, Kenneth; sister, Nettie
Ovenia Bolton Manley

Ovenia Bolton Manley, 87, of Russellville, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 of natural causes. She was a native of Franklin County and a resident of Russellville; and a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2007 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin immediately after visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Eugene Digby and Bro. James Johnson officiating the service. Burial will be in the James Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will include: Michael Lindsey, Darryl Green, Sr., Jeremy Parrish, Ronnie Bobo, Ronnie Glass, Darryl Green, Jr., and Kris Green.
Mrs. Manley is survived by daughters, Lavell Garrison of Red Bay, Marie Bolton of Illinois, Rachel Parrish and husband, Roger, of Russellville, Nedra Bentley and husband, Mark, of Cherokee; stepdaughters, Gloria McKinney and husband, Charles, of Russellville, Polly Montgomery and husband, Rodney, of Edge Field, South Carolina; and Carolyn Green and husband, Darryl, of Russellville; seven grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 21 step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Manley was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Victoria McKinney; husbands, Grady Bolton, and Neil Manley; two sisters, four brothers, stepson, Dennis Manley, and son-in-law, Billy Garrison.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Russellville Hospital and to the staff and Terrace Manor Nursing Home.

Allan Bragwell

Allan Wayne Bragwell, 40, of Florence, died Sunday. December 30, 2007 from injuries sustained in a helicopter accident. He was a native of Franklin County and had lived in Lauderdale County for the past nine years. He was a member of Center Star Church and a volunteer paramedic for the Underwood-Petersville Fire Department.
Mr. Bragwell was a paramedic for 18 years. He was employed at Keller EMS for 17 years and was a flight medic for Air Evac Lifeteam for five years. He never considered his profession a job; it was his passion. As a paramedic, husband, father, brother, and friend, his life impacted all that he came into contact with.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at Underwood Baptist Church with burial in Greenview Memorial Park. Rev. Stan Pruitt officiated the service.
Mr. Bragwell is survived by his wife, Regena Pruitt Bragwell; sons, Evan Allan Bragwell and Isaac Springer; daughters, Destiny Michelle Bragwell and Hope Springer; mother, Vernial Willingham Bragwell; father, Steve Bragwell; sisters, Angela Bragwell, and Andrea Scott, and husband, Jeff, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allan's life was an example of compassion to his family, friends, church family, and community. Although his life was short in years, it was filled with joy, laughter, compassion, purpose and love.
Allan's children have described him as their best friend and mentor. His ability to love others has set an example for those of us left behind to make a positive impact on the live of those around us.
Pallbearers for the service included Wayne Webster, Bruce Carson, Ashley England, Kevin Montgomery, Ed Rhodes, Greg Witt, Wes Hamilton, Noah Banister and Nathan Springer.
Honorary Pallbearers included Keller EMS, Underwood-Petersville Fire Department, Brewer EMS, NorthStar EMS, UAB and Children's Critical Care Transport.
A special thanks to Justin Bishop, and Air Evac for everything they have done during this most difficult time. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Underwood-Petersville Fire Department or to Center Star Church.

Charles M. Gaddis

Charles M. Gaddis, age 68, of Red Bay, died December 31, 2007 at his residence. He was born March 14, 1939 in Red Bay to Malcolm and Ella Long Gaddis. He was co-owner and operator of G&G Florist for more than 50 years and was an employee of Blue Bell for 17 years. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Red Bay, and an avid collector of watches and clocks. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held January 3, 20089 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Jerry Simmer officiating the service. Burial was in the Red Bay City Cemetery.
Mr. Gaddis was survived by his wife of 48 years, Ginger Gaddis of Red Bay; daughter, Lorraine Gaddis of Clinton, Miss.; son, Milton Gaddis of Red Bay; and grandchildren, Allison Taylor (Jay), April Hamm, Brittany Latham and Dillon Gaddis.
Pallbearers for the service included Jay Taylor, David Hamm, Randy Emerson, Terry Hall, Telford Hamm, and David Brown.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Mike Whitehead

Mike Royce "Whitey" Whitehead, age 51, of Red Bay, died December 27, 2007 in Franklin County. He was born June 2, 1956 in Mississippi to Jewel and Rosie Carden Whitehead. He was an employee of Sunshine Homes for 31 years and was a member of the Pentecostal Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leroy Whitehead, and a sister, Ann Credille.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Jimmy Massey and Bro. William Burcham officiating. Burial was in the Old Bethel Cemetery in Golden, Miss.
Pallbearers for the service included Andy Deaton, David Leathers, Chris Ginn, Daniel Credille, Scott Terrell and Jacob Scott.
Mr. Whitehead was survived by wife of 31 years, Mary Scott Whitehead of Red Bay; son, Adam Lee of Whitehead of Red Bay; daughter, Amy Whitehead Brimingham (Eric) of Burton, Miss.; brothers, William Whitehead and David Whitehead (Ellen), both of Georgia, and Lonnie Whitehead (Francis) of Red Bay; two sisters, Janet Ledlow (Bobby), and Nadine Ginn (Doyle), all of Red Bay; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
