Panthers defeat Vina

HACKLEBURG – In Class 1A action Monday night, Hackleburg withstood a third-quarter comeback to defeat the Vina varsity boys 80-67.
Vina cut Hackleburg's lead to 50-49 at the end of the third quarter, but the Panthers scored 30 points in the final period.
Joel Ingle led Hackleburg with 19 points.
B.J. Beard led Vina with 19 points,three steals and two rebounds.
Brent Townsend added had points and four steals, and Morgan McCarley added 10 points. Randy Barnes pulled down seven rebounds and finished with six points.

HACKLEBURG – Hackleburg jumped out to a 22-5 first quarter lead to beat the Vina varsity girls 82-39.
Heather Holland had a team-high 18 points and six rebounds for Vina.
Cindy Kivette finished with a double-double of 23 points and 10 points to lead Hackleburg.

VINA – The Vina varsity boys lost 54-28 Friday night.
Kevin Townsend, Matthew Hester, Blake Thorn and Cass White each finished with four points for the Red Devils.

Despite a double-double from Vina's Heather Holland, the Waterloo varsity girls won 57-28.
Holland finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Devyn Childers added six points and four rebounds for the Lady Red Devils.
