Council approves fountain payment

Russellville's park improvement project took another step forward Monday night, as the City Council approved payment for the fountains at City Lake Park.
At Monday's meeting, the council approved paying the $22,056.50 balance due to Custom Fountains from the recreation improvement fund. The park has been given a face-lift in recent months, part of an overall park improvement project all over the city. When finished, city lake park will also have a lighted walking trail, a picnic pavilion and restroom facilities.
Grissom said the city is doing the work on the project with city employees whenever possible to avoid contracting the work out.
Also Monday, the council accepted bids on cage units, light bars and video systems for the city's new police cars. Police Chief Chris Hargett said the cars would probably be ready for delivery sometime in mid-summer.
