Lady Bobcats nearly knock off Hatton

RUSSELLVILLE - Hatton rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Phil Campbell 57-51 on Friday in the Russellville Thanksgiving Invitational despite a game-high 24 points by Tanna Benford.
The Lady Bobcats (1-2) trailed by one at halftime before out-scoring Hatton 16-12 in the third quarter to grab a three-point lead.
The Lady Hornets (2-0) out-scored Phil Campbell 20-11 in the final quarter to rally for the win.
Benford finished with four three-pointers on the afternoon.
Alana Smith added nine points for Phil Campbell, and Alis Hutcheson had eight.
Erin Gilbert finished with six points, and Jodi Taff added four.
Amber Rutherford, who recently committed to play next season at UNA, led Hatton with 20 points. Tara Smith added 17, and Grace Harrison had 11.
Phil Campbell was scheduled to face Russellville on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Hatton, which earlier defeated Waterloo 86-70, moved into the semifinals to face either Rogers or Lexington.
In other action at the Russellville Invitational:
Rogers 53 Russellville 47
Jordan Dollar had 15 points to lead three players in double figures, but it wasn't enough for Russellville.
Britnee Phillips added 12 points for the Lady Golden Tigers, and Kala Trapp had 11.
Sasha Willingham finished with six points, and Meghan Quillen added three.
Ashley Dean led Rogers (1-0) with 14 points, and Caitlin Rhoden added 12.
Rogers led 17-14 after one quarter and 29-26 at the half.
