Grand jury issues two manslaughter
indictments

Indictments handed down earlier this month by a Lauderdale County grand jury were released into the public record Friday following arraignment hearings in circuit court.
The list included two indictments for manslaughter, which means the defendants allegedly caused someone's death, but acted "without malice and in the heat of passion."
Gracie Murel Moss, 51, was indicted for manslaughter in the Dec. 14 shooting death of her boyfriend, 48-year-old Ricky W. Graham. The shooting happened during a domestic dispute at his 47th Avenue home. He ran outside to get medical help, collapsed in the street and died about an hour later at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Jimmy Dale Grace, 36, was indicted for manslaughter in the March 4 shooting death of 32-year-old Alonzo Junior Boyd during an altercation at a 29th Avenue house.
Grace was indicted as a habitual offender. He has prior felony convictions in Lauderdale County for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute (1992) and embezzlement (1989). If convicted, Grace could receive the maximum sentence of 20 years.
The indictments released Friday also included: more than 30 indictments for other violent crimes, including eight for aggravated assault; more than 70 for property crimes, including eight for home repair fraud; and more than 80 for drug-related crimes, including 24 for DUI.
