Things fall into place for NE Lauderdale

QUITMAN Things have started falling into place for the Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans slow-pitch softball team as they claimed a 13-3 victory over Quitman High School on Thursday.
The Lady Trojans took advantage of eight Quitman errors to improve their record to 4-1 for the season. Quitman drops to 0-3.
Northeast Lauderdale jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first. Savannah Hall's hard-hit double brought in a run. The Lady Trojans had four hits and Quitman made two errors during the inning. Scoring for Northeast Lauderdale were Leanne Young, Logan Okzak, Hall, Mallory Pace and Megan Winborn.
Jessica Creighton belted a double to bring in Autumn Satcher in the bottom of the third inning, making the score 5-1.
Then with two outs in the fourth inning, Northeast Lauderdale scored eight runs to put the game away. Kara Hull and Jessica Love each got on base with a fielder's choice. Eliz Gavin doubled in Tardo, and Kaley Hull knocked in Love. A combination of Northeast hitting and Quitman miscues kept Lady Trojans alive to bring in six more runs for a 13-1 lead. Also scoring in the inning were Gavin, Hull, Young, Shelley Odom, Okzak and Hall.
Quitman wasn't about to give up. Amanda Herring's sacrifice fly brought in Gabby Morgan and Rebecca Riley scored on a fielder's choice, but that would be it for the host team as the game was called after five innings on the 10-run rule.
Quitman will be back home Saturday when it hosts Southeast Lauderdale at noon. The Lady Panthers will open district play at home when they host West Jones on Tuesday, starting at 6 p.m. Northeast Lauderdale returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Enterprise.
