Clark readies for the Democratic National Convention in Boston

Melba B. Clark, chairman of the Lauderdale County Democratic Executive Committee, says she's headed to Boston today to make sure the United States doesn't lose anymore jobs to foreign countries.
Clark said she fears that if the country loses its manufacturing jobs, the middle-class in America will become obsolete.
Clark, along with 53 other Mississippians, will have the opportunity to express her concerns at the Democratic National Convention in Boston this week. The convention begins on Monday and ends on Thursday.
Clark said she believes that Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry and his running mate, John Edwards, have a good chance of winning the presidential election this fall.
Clark was elected as a Mississippi delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention, representing the 3rd Congressional District, in a meeting in Pearl on March 24. She has been an active member of the Democratic Party since 1976, when she began working in voter registration and get out the vote campaigns.
She said she is looking forward to serving as a delegate and representing her community along with the rest of the Mississippi delegation, which includes State Attorney General Jim Hood and Mississippi Democratic Executive Committee Chairperson Wayne Dowdy.
Clark said she plans to be "fired-up" when she returns, and ready to work to invigorate local Democrats.
She said the Lauderdale County Democratic Executive Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of the Lauderdale County Detention Center. She said anyone who is interested in attending a meeting should show up or call 485-8882 for more information.
