United Way kicks off Supply Our Students' campaign

The United Way of East Mississippi is asking the community to help local students get the tools they need to learn through its annual Supply Our Students program.
The United Way will collect school supplies this week and distribute them to children from low-income families next week.
Betty Lou Jones of the United Way of East Mississippi said the organization also will accept donations to buy school supplies.
The official kick-off of the program was to be announced at a news conference today at the United Way offices at 2003 23rd Ave. along with the presentation of a $10,000 grant to the program from The Riley Foundation.
Jones said local parents could chip in by picking up an extra set of school supplies when they purchase their children's supplies. The United Way is asking for crayons, paper, scissors, pencils, notebooks, book bags, rulers, glue and composition books.
Supplies will be distributed July 20-21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park.
School supplies or cash contributions will be accepted at:
AmSouth Bank, all four locations; BankPlus, downtown, North Hills and Highway 19 North at College Park; Citizens Bank, downtown, North Meridian, West Meridian and Bonita Lakes; Community Bank, 22nd Avenue, and at Highway 39 North; Great Southern National Bank, 22nd Avenue, Bonita Lakes and at College Park; Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center Fitness Center, and cafeteria; Riley Hospital lobby; Rush Foundation Hospital lobby; and Trustmark National Bank, all five locations.
