DECATUR Spring football at junior colleges is in a world of its own. For the most part, only returning freshman are around, except for maybe a few incoming transfers.
East Central Community College head football coach Terry Underwood was pleased with his team's spring effort following a 2-7 showing a year ago.
One key thing about spring football at the juco level is it does give coaches more time with their annual group of 20-30 returning players. Those players will likely determine the team's fate the following fall.
ECCC will need strong leadership as for the second straight year the Warriors will play five of their games on the road. In addition to the six MACJC South Division games, ECCC will also take on Northwest, Itawamba, and East Mississippi.
