Gartman readies Clarkdale

New Clarkdale High School head football coach Jud Gartman says he is still getting to know his new football team as spring training recently concluded for the Bulldogs.
Gartman retired two years ago after a long and successful career at Enterprise High School. He was defensive coordinator last year at Lamar School and helped lead the Raiders to their first MPSA state football championship. Gartman was named head coach at Clarkdale earlier this year but is still under contract at Lamar.
The Bulldogs finished 2-8 last season. Interim head coach Joey Etheridge took over early in the season and will remain as an assistant at Clarkdale.
At the end of spring training, Blake Johnson remained the starting quarterback. Cedric Burns is expected to play tailback with Chris Skinner at the fullback and Chris Sirven at the wingback.
Matt Mayerhoss will anchor the offensive line at center, flanked by guards Jeremy Street and Lee Hayes, and tackles Jimmy Dyer and Nick Richardson. Calvin Eastman is the tight end while Michael Steele will be the wide receiver.
On defense, Kurt Singley is the nose guard with Patrick Harris and Lametries Forbes playing at the ends. The linebackers will be Chris Skinner, Calvin Eastman and Jeremy Street, while the defensive backs will be Cedric Burns, Johnathan Waltman and Kevin McKissiack.
