MONROE, La. Services for Louis Ray "Whitey" White were held at 11 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, La., with Rev. David Laverty officiating. Interment followed Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. was a native of Bailey, Miss., and resided here since 1950. He was a retired contractor and a Navy veteran of World War II; he was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Courtney Lea White, and is survived by his wife, Clydine Covington White; three sons, Larry White and wife Ginger; Clyde White and wife Pat, Al White and wife Dorothy; grandsons, Kevin White, Slade White, Reed White, Jason White, Ben White; great grandson, Eli White; great granddaughter, Haylan White.
Pallbearers will be Kevin White, Slade White, Reed White, Jason White, Ben White and Mel Bounds.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe.

BUTLER, Ala. Services for Manasseh Broadhead will be held today at 2 p.m. at Needham Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James Irby officiating. Burial will be in Bogueloosa Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Broadhead, 77, of Needham, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Judith "Judy" Broadhead of Needham; a daughter, Jackie Broadhead Kelly of Needham; step-daughter, Lisa Williams of Millry, Ala.; step-sons, Mark Hester of Millry and Larry Hester of Simi Valley, Calif.; brothers, Houston Broadhead of Jackson, Ala., Naman Broadhead and Arthur Broadhead, both of Needham; sisters, Melba Donalds and Blanch Covington, both of Needham, Opal Barrett of Selma and Margie Destin of Destin, Fla.; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services for David S. Bartimus will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Bartimus and Steve Lammons officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Columbus.
Mr. Bartimus, 48, of Lauderdale, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Bartimus of Lauderdale; a son, David Houston Bartimus, of Columbus; a daughter, Ashley Bartimus, of Columbus; brother, John Bartimus and his wife, Barbara, of Panama City, Fla. and a niece, Jessinta Luther and her husband, Jim, of Panama City; and two great-nieces, Sierra and Sydney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and David Bartimus.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Roy Harston Briggs will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Blue Springs Baptist Church north of Chunky with the Rev. Lynn Chesney officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Briggs, 68, of Meridian, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in his home. He was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sisters, Doris Lockhart and her husband, Leo, of Meridian, Maurice Jones and her husband, Willie Jo, and Vivian Culpepper, all of Chunky; brothers, R.D. Briggs and his wife, Judy, of Alabama and William Briggs and his wife, Liz, of Causeyville; seven nieces, nine nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Almon Briggs and Earline Briggs.
Memorials may be made to Blue Springs Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Tim Culpepper, Jason Culpepper, Shawn Ganey, Charles Adcock, Gerald Briggs and Bob Capes.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Services for Mildred M. Ward will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Tom Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Ward, 90, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at King's Daughters and Sons Rest Home. She was a native of Enterprise. After graduating from Enterprise High School, she lived in Washington D.C. from 1934-1997. During those years, she graduated from Strayer Business College and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1935-1958, and for Senator John C. Stennis, from 1958 until she retired in 1983, having served for more than 20 years as his secretary. She was a member of the Capital Hill Metropolitan Baptist Church. She was a member of the Administrative Assistants and Secretaries Association and the Mississippi Women's Luncheon Club.
Miss Ward for the past six years was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include her nephews, Malcolm G. Ward Jr. of Ruston, La., Aub A. Ward and Robert L. Ward, both of Baton Rouge, and several other devoted relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sallye N. Ward and Robert L. Ward and her brothers, Malcolm G. Ward and Robert I. Ward.
Memorials may be made to Aldersgate Retirement Community, 6600 Poplar Springs Drive, Meridian, MS 39305.
Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
NEWTON Services for Nellie "Whitey" Perkins will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins, of Newton, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in her home.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
