Wildcats take road win over Hattiesburg

The Meridian High Wildcats took an important divisional win on the road over Hattiesburg to improve to 14-7 for the season.
Taylor Scarbrough led the way at the plate with two hits, including a double. Rodney Warren added two singles and Cordera Eason had a double. Tyler McMullen took the win on the mound for the Wildcats and improved to 3-3. Meridian High will face West Lauderdale on the road today at 7 p.m.
Clarkdale 20-17
Bassfield 3-1
The Bulldogs pounded out 19 hits in a Division 7-2A doubleheader sweep of Bassfield. In game one Kevin McKissack and Calvin Eastman led the way for Clarkdale with two doubles apiece.
Curt Singley (4-3) took the win and added two hits, including a double. In game two Clarkdale collected nine hits and McKissack took the pitching win to improve to 1-0. Kyle Boswell led the Bulldogs offensively with a pair of doubles and a triple.
Micheal Davis and Singley each had a home run, and David Riley added a triple. Clarkdale will play host to Southeast Lauderdale and Lake, with first pitch against the Tigers set for 1 p.m.
Southeast Lauderdale 7
Choctaw Central 1
Southeast Lauderdale took a key Division 5-3A win at Choctaw Central to improve to 8-11 for the season. Chris Butler led the Tigers at the plate with three hits, including a triple. Bubba Shelby added two singles and Rodney Walk collected a double.
Matt Smith took the pitching win for Southeast Lauderdale and Davey Willis took the loss for the Warriors. The Tigers return to action with a pair of games on the road against Clarkdale and Enterprise beginning at 1 p.m.
Enterprise 5
Stringer 4
Enterprise (13-4) fought off five errors in the field to take a narrow one-run win over the Red Devils on Friday. Lance Irby took the win on the mound to improve to 1-1 for the season and Wade Weather collected his first save of the season.
Scott Mosley led the Bulldogs with a pair of hits, including a double. Chance Kidd added two hits and Zeb Swain chipped in with a two-run home run. Enterprise will play host to Union and Southeast Lauderdale today.
Newton Academy 15
Central Academy 2
The Generals scored at least three runs in every inning as they trounced the Vikings Friday at Decatur.
Lee Blackburn had two doubles and a single for NCA, 13-4. Morgan Craven and John Shellenback both had two singles and a double. Daniel Grimes had two singles. Brad Harrison had a two-run double and Blake Hedrick had a two-run single.
Tommy Harthcock was the winning pitcher as NCA improved to 4-3 in Academy 3-A.
Leake Academy 2-12
Carroll Academy 4-1
Leake Academy split a pair of games on the road Thursday night to move their record to 7-5 for the season.
Matt Chancelor led the way at the plate for Leake Academy in game one with three hits, including a double. Chancelor led Leake Academy in game two with with a home run and single.
