Trojans roll past War Eagles

Northeast Lauderdale got the bats cranked early on and rolled past Wayne County 14-2 on Friday night in prep baseball action.
Jeremy Barnacastle hit a pair of two-run homers, and the Trojans scored six runs in each of the first two innings to cruise to the victory.
Nathan Peden overcame a pair of runs in the top of the second inning and pitched five strong innings to pick up the win for Northeast.
The Trojans jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Pritchett doubled and Cory Chance singled to start the rally. Chad Brunson followed with a sacrifice fly to make the score 1-0.
Barnacastle followed with his first home run of the game to make the score 3-0.
Peden singled and Chris Oubre singled to keep the inning rolling. Andrew Siciliano followed with an RBI single to make the score 4-0.
After a walk, William Brown walked with the bases loaded to make the score 5-0. The final run of the inning scored on a sacrifice fly by Pritchett.
Wayne County answered in the top of the second inning. Brandon Gatlin reached on an error and Dillon Boyles singled.
Cade Clinton singled to left and a bobble in the outfield allowed Gatlin to come around and make the score 6-1.
Boyles scored on a sacrifice fly by Bryson Brewer to make the score 6-2.
Northeast continued to pour the runs on in the bottom of the second inning. Brunson started the rally with a double and Barnacastle followed with another two-run home run to make the score 8-2.
After three walks, Pritchett ripped a double to clear the bases and give Northeast an 11-2 lead. Pritchett later scored on a double steal to make the score 12-2 after two innings.
Peden allowed just three hits in the final three innings and shut down the War Eagles.
Northeast added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to secure the win.
With two outs, Pritchett singled and Chance doubled down the rightfield line. Brunson ripped a single to bring in both runners and give the Trojans the 14-2 run-rule victory.
With the victory, Northeast improves to 15-4 for the year and moves to 6-2 in division play.
The Trojans will travel to play Florence in another division matchup on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
