Clarkdale fast-pitch head coach Rick Roberson has a veteran team returning this spring.
Eight starters are back from the 2003 squad that finished state runner-up in Class 1A-2A to Mooreville.
Sophomore Sabrina Woodall is a two-year starter at first base. At second base is senior four-year starter Brandi Wright. Senior Meagan Potate is in her fourth year at shortstop. At third base is sophomore Lindsay Dawkins.
Dawkins is the only new starter in this year's lineup as she takes over for JorD'an Orr.
Youth comprises the outfield. Sophomore Kim Seale is in left, freshman Alyssa Bye is in center, and sophomore Savannah Satcher is in right.
Senior Casey Meador, a three-year starter, is behind the plate. On the mound, as much as possible, will be senior lefty Emily Howard. Others likely to see time pitching are Seale and Tessa Gamble.
While the rains have slowed the Lady Bulldogs down some, the recent weeks haven't been a total washout.
The Lady Bulldogs will have several new faces in their region this year. Making up the new league are Stringer, Sebastopol, Mize, Enterprise, Puckett, and Union with only Union having much success come playoff-time.
Clarkdale opens its 2004 season in the Northeast Lauderdale Classic Saturday at Northeast Park taking on Quitman at 10 a.m. and Pearl at 1 p.m.
Assisting Roberson are Brent Bennett, Robbi Cooper, and Morris Stamm.
