Lady Trojans still in hunt
The Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans stayed in the hunt for the North Division title Monday night by downing Holmes Community College 65-54 at Moorhead.
The MDCC women are 13-5 overall and 6-1 in North Division play, just one game behind division-leading Northeast. Northeast ripped Coahoma 109-69 Thursday to improve to 7-0 in league play.

Sanders leads Rangers past ICC
Lamar Sanders had 23 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers to a 92-77 win against Itawamba on Thursday.
Northwest, ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA poll, pulled away from the Indians midway through the second half using solid defense and good rebounding.
"Lamar had a monster game," Northwest coach Bubba Skelton said. "I thought he inserted himself inside and our guards did a good job getting it to him."
The Rangers won the rebounding battle, getting 22
offensive boards, while the Indians managed three.
Sanders, a freshman, got seven of his rebounds on the offensive end. He also added four assists and two blocks.

Five named to NJCAA men's Basketball Hall of Fame
The National Junior College Basketball Coaches Association has announced its 2004 selections for induction into the men's Basketball Hall of Fame, located in Hutchinson, Kan.
New inductees are:
Lionel Hollins – Hollins played at Dixie College in St. George, Utah, from 1971 to 1973. He led Dixie to the 1973 National Tournament and was a third-team NJCAA All-America selection in 1973. He played two years at Arizona State where he was named an NCAA first-team All-American in 1975.
Hollins was a first-round draft-choice in the 1975 NBA draft and went on to play 10 years for five NBA teams.
Hollins is currently an assistant coach with the NBA Memphis Grizzlies.
John Hurley – After 26 years as head coach at Cincinnati (Ohio) State Community College, Hurley retired after the 2002-2003 season. He recorded 554 wins during his tenure at CSCC and including his years as a high school head coach won 705 games.
Hurley's contribution to junior college basketball goes beyond actual coaching. He has written articles for the JUCO Review, served on the Region 12 basketball committee for 10 years and in 1982 he founded the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
Freddie Lewis – Lewis played at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Ariz., during the 1961-62 and 1963-64 seasons. He led them to the national tournament in 1964 and went on to a distinguished career at Arizona State, scoring 964 points in two seasons.
Lewis was inducted into the Arizona State Hall of Fame in 1978. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Royals in 1966 and spent nine years playing pro basketball, averaging 17.0 points per game. Lewis was a member of the original Indiana Pacers team where he set many records and is a member of their Wall of Fame.
Verties Sails Sails is currently in his 25th year as head coach at Southwest Tennessee Community College, (formerly Shelby State) in Memphis, Tenn. As a head coach, he has won a career 659 games (132 as at the high school level and 527 at the college level).
Sails was named Region Coach of the Year eight times. His teams have been to the national tournament six times, recording a second-place finish in 1998 and a third-place finish in 2000. Sails is a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
Bob Sneller Sneller led Independence (Kan.) Community College to the 1963 National Championship and was named the NJCAA Coach of the Year. After eight years at Independence, Sneller became the athletic director at Crowder (Mo.) College, starting its first basketball program. He served in that capacity until he retired in 1980. During 23 years, he amassed a record of 467-216.
The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held in conjunction with the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament. The induction ceremony will be March 15 in Hutchinson, Kan.
