Langston leads Trojans past Northeast Jones

Northeast Lauderdale put four players in double figures on Friday night and out-sprinted Northeast Jones to the finish in an 84-73 win.
Bradley Blakeney led Northeast Jones, 4-17 overall and 0-3 in the region, with 20 points. Marcus Phelps added 17, Antonio Reed had 11 and Clyde Pruitt had 10.
Maurice Langston had 18 for the Trojans. Alex Ford added 17, Antonio Clayton had 15 and Harold Grace had 11. Northeast Lauderdale out-scored Northeast Jones 31-24 in the fourth quarter.
Lamar 76
Macon Central 28
Lamar's defense strangled Macon Central on Friday night, holding Macon Central to just two points in the third quarter in a 76-28 win.
Meanwhile, the Raiders scored 28 points over the same period of time to take a 67-19 lead entering the fourth period.
David Haggard scored a team-high 16 points for Lamar, which improved to 15-8 overall. Austin Roebuck scored 14 points for the Raiders, Matthew Fort had 12, and Jason Strickland chipped in 10.
Lamar visits Starkville Academy on Tuesday.
Quitman 79
Florence 45
Quitman led 40-16 at halftime and the Panthers rolled to a 79-45 win over Florence on Friday night.
Daniel Boyd led the Panthers with 20 points. Alandis Cooks scored 18 points and Prince Trotter had 14.
Quitman, now 16-10 overall and 3-1 in district play, hosts Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday and travels to Mendenhall on Friday for its final district game.

NE Jones 55
NE Lauderdale 35
The Lady Tigers struggled early and only led 12-10 after the opening quarter. Midway through the second period, the Lady Tigers trailed the visitors from Lauderdale County 17-16, but Jessica McKenzie hit two free throws to put Northeast Jones up 18-17, and the home team was never threatened again.
Shaquito Bell led Northeast Lauderdale with 18 points despite playing most of the contest in foul trouble. Crystal Hopson added seven points.
The Northeast Jones girls will be seeded first in the division tournament at Quitman. Northeast Lauderdale will be the No. 4 seed.
Quitman 76
Florence 53
MaShana Bonner scored a game-high 27 points for Quitman as the Pantherettes cruised to a 76-53 win at home against Florence.
Kemonica McGee scored 20 points and Evelyn Howze added 10 for Quitman.
Ashley Jones led Florence with 25 points, and Tinesha Mangum scored 11 points.
Kemper Aca. 56
Oak Hill Aca. 46
Kemper Academy held Oak Hill to just 12 points in the first half before holding off the Lady Raiders in overtime in a 56-46 Lady Rams win.
After building a 24-12 lead in the second quarter, Kemper Academy was out-scored 15-8 in the third quarter and 16-11 in the third. The Lady Rams, 18-7 after the win, held Oak Hill to three points in the overtime period.
The Lady Raiders are 14-11.
