Luquire leads Lamar to OT win

The Lady Raiders of Lamar School used 15 points from Cheryl Luquire to take a 35-28 overtime win over homestanding Adams County Christian School on Saturday afternoon.
The win pushed Lamar, which hosts Jackson Prep on Tuesday, to 10-12 on the season.
Adams (boys) 39
Lamar 36
The Raiders lost a heartbreaker in the closing moments to drop to 12-7 for the season. Matthew Fort led Lamar with 12 points in the three-point loss to Adams Chrisitan. ACCS improved to 20-3 with the home win over Lamar.
Sumter Aca. (girls) 44
Tuscaloosa 25
The Lady Eagles evened their record at 9-9 on the season with the 19-point win over Tuscaloosa Academy on Saturday.
Theresa Todd and Brandy Walden scored 10 points each for Sumter Academy, which pays a visit to Marengo Academy on Tuesday.
Mendenhall (boys) 74
NE Lauderdale 64
Mendenhall outscored Northeast Lauderdale 16-11 in the fourth quarter on Friday night on the way to a 10-point division win.
Arvell Keyes scored 27 points to lead Mendenhall, which is now 18-4 on the season, while Tremaine Enoch scored 18 and Darrell Johnson added 16.
Harold Grace scored 20 to lead Northeast Lauderdale, while Antonio Clayton hit for 14 and Maurice Langston 11. Northeast Lauderdale visits Choctaw Central on Tuesday.
Newton (boys) 77
Lake 61
Newton used a big third quarter to roll past the Hornets of Lake 77-61 on Friday night.
The Tigers led 36-29 at the half, but outscored Lake 27-14 in the third quarter to take care of the game.
Brandon Shelton led NHS with 19 points, while Cornelius Caraway scored 13, Jermario Walker 12 and Kolby Tillman 10. Ivon Hickmon led Lake with 15 points, while Lee Johnson added 12.
Newton visits Philadelphia on Tuesday and Williams-Sullivan on Friday, while Lake hosts Kemper County on Tuesday.
Enterprise (girls) 41
Seminary 32
Kaccy Jimmerson scored 17 points to lead the lady Bulldogs of Enterprise to a nine-point division win on Friday night.
Enterprise led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, 19-14 at the half and 31-24 after three quarters of play.
Enterprise visits Heidelberg High School on Friday.
Wayne Co. (boys) 52
West Jones 42
Cedric Jones scored half of his team's points as Wayne County took a 10-point win over West Jones on Friday night.
Following Jones' 26 for the War Eagles, was Kamarcus West with 11 and David Howard with 10. Wayne County hosts Laurel on Tuesday and visits Moss Point on Friday.
Mendenhall (girls) 49
NE Lauderdale 44
Northeast Lauderdale held a 30-28 lead after three quarters of play, only to have homestanding Mendenhall outscore the Lady Trojans 21-14 in the fourth quarter of the game to take the win.
Michelle Taylor scored 13 points to lead 14-7 Mendenhall to the division win, while Shaquita Bell scored 19 for NEL and Crystal Hopson added 14.
Newton (girls) 60
Lake 41
The Lady Tigers of Newton High School jumped out to a 35-21 lead and rolled to the win over Lake on Friday night.
Newton, now 16-7 on the season, was led by Karmaarshea Jones with 17 and Whitney Thames with 11. Valerie Harris scored 15 for Lake. Newton visits Philadelphia on Tuesday and Williams-Sullivan on Friday, while Lake hosts Kemper County on Tuesday.
Northeast Jones 72
Quitman (girls) 41
The Lady Tigers of Northeast Jones moved their record to 18-0 on the season behind the 14 points of Kristen Blackledge.
Mashana Bonner scored 17 and Kemonica McGee added 11 for Quitman. NE Jones led 26-3 after one quarter of play. Quitman hosts West Lauderdale on Friday.
