The West Lauderdale boys' and girls' soccer teams are standing tall on top of the heap in Division 1A-3A. The Knights hold a perfect 5-0 record in the multi-classification division, and they are 12-1 overall.
Thanks to wins over Southeast Lauderdale and Columbus last week, the West boys have earned the No. 11 ranking in the state.
Not to be outdone by their male counterparts, the Lady Knights have kept their record spotless in divisional play, as well. The West girls' squad holds a 4-0 mark in the division.
The Clarkdale boys' and girls' teams are also in the mix to claim a spot in the 1A-3A postseason.
The Bulldogs (4-7, 2-1 Division) are currently a half game behind Philadelphia for second place in the South. The Tornadoes have a 3-1 division mark, and the two teams will meet in what could be a deciding game on Thursday in a make-up match.
The Lady Bulldogs are in a three-way tie for second in the girls' side of the division with a 1-2 record.
The Southeast Lauderdale boys' team holds a 1-5 record in the division, and the Lady Tigers are 1-4 in divisional play.
In 4A division play, the Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans hold a 3-0 mark to go along with the team's 12-2-2 overall record. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Northeast girls will try to keep its divisional record spotless against Quitman today.
The Trojans have also played their way to the top of the 4A division with a 3-0 mark.
The Northeast boys own an 11-3 overall record, and the team will meet the Quitman boys' squad following the girls' contest today.
The Meridian High School boys' and girls' soccer teams will host Northwest Rankin on Tuesday at Meridian Community College, with the two teams' playoff lives hanging in the balance.
The Wildcats hold a 1-2 mark in 5A play, and they need a win over Northwest Rankin, which Meridian High lost to earlier this season, and Brandon on Friday to have a shot at the playoffs.
The Lady Wildcats also need to win their next two matches against Northwest Rankin and Brandon to qualify for the playoffs. The Meridian High girls' squad will take on Northwest Rankin before the boys' game on Tuesday at MCC.
The Lamar School boys' soccer team (6-1-1), which is ranked second in the MPSA, will take on University Christian School with second place in the South Division at stake today.
