Clarkdale downs host at Enterprise Invitational

ENTERPRISE The Clarkdale Bulldogs came into Friday with hopes of taking down its arch-rival Enterprise for the third consecutive time this season. Clarkdale got that wish by taking a 69-54 win over Enterprise in the second day of the 2004 Enterprise Invitational Tournament.
Clarkdale never lost the lead in second half and used great perimeter shooting from guards Shannon Henley and Quinton Walker.
Clarkdale moved to 7-7 with the win over Enterprise and will meet Stringer in the final day of the tournament today at 5:30 p.m.
Clarkdale took an 18-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and never let up in the second. Clarkdale used a 10-0 run behind six points from Walker to take a 27-16 lead with 3:45 left in the second.
Clarkdale held a 33-27 lead at the half, but Enterprise came back to tie the game at 35 thanks to several big baskets from Curtis Latney and Maurice Dixon.
Clarkdale and Enterprise will meet one more time this season on Tuesday at Enterprise which will mark the fourth time the two schools have met this season.
Clarkdale was able to take control of the game late in the third quarter and take a 51-40 lead. Clarkdale used one more 10-0 run which sealed the game.
Henley led the way in scoring for Clarkdale with a game-high 21 points, and Walker also added 20. Deion Henley also scored in double figures with 13. Dennis Watson led Enterprise with 12 points, while Dixon and Latney each added nine apiece.

The Enterprise Lady Bulldogs only managed 17 points in the first half, but what a difference one quarter can make.
Enterprise was able to open the third quarter on a 17-0 run and that proved to be the difference, as Enterprise knocked off rival Clarkdale by a final score of 48-37 in the second day of the Enterprise Invitational.
Enterprise moved into the championship game of the tournament against Newton County today at 7 p.m.
Clarkdale opened the game by taking a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter led by senior Felicia Kirksey. Enterprise was able to fight back to take a 17-14 lead, with 2:24 left in the second quarter. Jessica Gray scored two big baskets down the stretch to give EHS the three-point cushion.
Clarkdale fought back to tie the game at 17 at the end of the first half behind Kirksey once again. Kirksey finished the night with a game-high 19 points for Clarkdale.
Enterprise took control of the game in the third quarter with a big 17-0 run that proved to be the turning point in the second half. Gray secured seven points in the run, and Brittney Speed had five points in the five-minute span for Enterprise.
Speed led Enterprise with a team-high 14 points, and Gray and Kayla Clark each added nine in the win. Kristi Walker had an excellent night for Clarkdale with eight points. Clarkdale will be looking for its first win of the tournament as the Lady Bulldogs square off against Stringer at 4 p.m. today.
Newton County (girls) 56

The Lady Cougars used an early 12-0 run in the second half to take their second win in the tournament and move into the championship game against Enterprise today. Newton County led at the end of the first half by a score 28-13 and never let the Red Devils draw any closer and secured the victory.
Andrea Dubose led the way in scoring for the Lady Cougars with 12 points. Mallory Shumake and Sha Coleman both finished the game with eight points. Nikki Graham led Stringer with 15 points and Amber Cooley added ten in the loss.
Stringer will look to take its first win in the tournament today when the Lady Red Devils meet Clarkdale at 4 p.m.
Newton County (boys) 71
Stringer 27
Newton County led by as much as 30 points in the first half and kept the momentum going to take their second consecutive win of the tournament. The Cougars were led in scoring Duke Hudnall with 12 points to pace the offense. David Ellis and James Brooch each chipped with nine points.
Tip Garner led Stringer with 12 points.
