DECATUR, Ga. Services for Jeanette Spence Guy will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Millwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Guy of Decatur, formerly of Meridian, Miss., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, in her home. She was faithfully cared for in her final illness by her daughter-in-law, Pam, and granddaughter, Allyson.
Survivors include her son, Robert Lewis Guy and his wife, Pam; grandchildren, Robert, Allyson, Matthew and Tara Guy, all of Decatur; sisters, Jewel Wyckoff and Rosemary Chandler, both of Meridian; brothers, Paul Spence of Ardmore, Tenn. and John Spence of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley M. Guy; a daughter, Rose Marie Guy Jones; infant grandsons, Bennett and Brandon Guy; her parents, Carl and Mamie Spence; and a brother, Horace Spence.
Dental technician
BUTLER, Ala. Graveside services for Hiram Lowell Brewer will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Scott Mountain Cemetery with the Rev. William Gary Smith officiating. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brewer, 68, of Meridian, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his daughters, Johanna Fraiser of Meridian and Marie Chatham of Causeyville; brother, Huey Brewer of Meridian; sisters, Audrey Mae Constantine of Mobile and Artis Pierce of Meridian and Evelyn Bridges of El Paso, Texas and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Joseph Franklin "Frank" Pevey will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Pevey, 73, of the Damascus Community in Kemper County, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in his home.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Retired
Memorial services for Julian George Cates will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home of Dockery Cates. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cates, 81, of Enterprise, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, in his home. He was retired from the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his children, Julian G. Cates Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Pontotoc, Loretta Cates of Meridian, Beth McGinty and her husband, Rick, and Dockery Cates and his fiance, Charlotte Gunn, all of Enterprise; grandchildren, Carey Anne, Brad, Nicky, Vanessa, Zackery and Hunter; his wife, Hazel Cates of Meridian; and several great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Retired
Graveside services for Hazel Knott will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Knott, 80, of Pensacola, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, in Pensacola. She graduated from Meridian High School and Meridian Junior College. She was married to Robert C. Knott from 1945 until his death in 1969.
She worked as a secretary in the civil service where she received an outstanding rating while at NAS Meridian and at the Charleston, S.C. Shipyard. She was an accomplished seamstress and pianist. She had spent most of her retirement years in Deltona, Fla., where she enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends.
Survivors include her son, Robert A. Knott and his wife, Pat, of Pensacola; a daughter, Judith I. Knott Morris and her husband, Ron, of Elk Grove, Calif.; grandchildren, Meredith L. Knott and Ethan S. Knott, both of Columbus, Ga.; brothers, George T. Allen of Florence, Ala., David S. Allen of Columbus and Gerald Allen of Granada Hills, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Knott.
Memorials may be made to a hospice or to Hope Village for Children in Meridian.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for James Stanford, 65, of Meridian, who died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Riley Hospital.
