Meridian woman dies in house fire

The body of Fannie Clayton, 89, of Meridian, was found in her home at 1935 Ninth Ave., the scene of a Friday fire.
Meridian Fire Chief Tim Miller said firefighters were called to the scene at about 4:30 p.m. Miller said Meridian fire and police officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Lauderdale County Deputy Coroner Clayton Cobler said Clayton's body was found in a chair in her home. He said an autopsy will be performed at the Mississippi Mortuary in Pearl.
