Nanih Wayia's girls basketball team remained undefeated for the young season Tuesday night with a 51-47 win over Lake. The homestanding Warriorettes (2-0) were led by Heather Steele with 18 points.
The boys team got off to a rough start in its first game of the season, falling to Lake 47-39. Michael Finklea led the Warriors (0-1) with 10 points.

The Macon Central boys' basketball team kept its record a perfect 2-0 Tuesday night with a win over Hebron Christian
Tony Sudduth led Macon Central's attack scoring a game-high 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Ross Brown also recorded a double-double for Macon Central scoring 17 and tallying 10 rebounds.
Macon Central returns to action at home Thursday against Starkville Academy.

Felisha Kurtsey tallied a team-high 28 points for Clarkdale, and Jamie Hill scored 11 in the loss.
Clarkdale only trailed Mount Olive 28-20 at halftime, but Mount Olive pulled away in the third quarter outscoring Clarkdale 20-9.

Dean Hindley scored a team-high 11 points for Clarkdale, and Shanon Hindley added 10 in the loss.

The Lamar School girls' basketball team fell to 4-2 for the year last Saturday with its loss to Kemper Academy.
Lizzie Williams and Jasmine Harris each scored nine points for the Lady Raiders.

Quitman 1
The Clarkdale boys' soccer team started its season in splendid fashion notching a road-win over Quitman.
Chris Sirven scored all of the goals for the Bulldogs to pick up a hat trick in the opener. Jett Miller assisted Sirven on Clarkdale's first and third goals of the game, and Daniel Warren set Sirven up for the second goal.
Calvin Eastman recorded the win in net for Clarkdale, which continues its season Saturday in the Lauderdale County Tournament at Northeast Park.

West Alabama 72
LIVINGSTON, Ala. Issac Greenwood led West Alabama in scoring for the second game in a row, posting 23 points to go along with seven rebounds, but it would not be enough as West Alabama dropped a tough 79-72 decision to William Carey (1-1) on Tuesday night.
Cliff Mathis scored 18 points for the Tigers to go along with his team-high nine rebounds and two blocks.
Anthony Barnes led the way for William Carey with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
