JCJC gets sweep against EMCC

Ellisville Jones County Junior College swept East Mississippi Community College in basketball action, with both teams using the long shot effectively.
The Bobcats defeated the Lions 99-83. JCJS hit 12 three-pointers, as the host team built up a 52-30 halftime advantage.
After spotting the Lions a layup, JCJC went on a 16-0 romp, hitting four three-pointers and creating seven turnovers. Nine different Bobcats scored in the first 10 minutes.
JCJC hit more than 55 percent from the field, 47 percent from the three-point arc. John Gray hit 4-of-8 three-pointers as he led the Bobcats in scoring with 21 total points.
But with big leads come big letdowns.
The Lions did come storming back, but the closest they were able to come was 82-70, but JCJC forced four turnovers in a row, jumping back to a 20-point advantage.
Also hitting double figures for JCJC was Tim Broomfield with 19 points and Tim Holmes with 16 points. Phillip Lockhart led EMCC with 19, Calvin Moore and Joseph Collins chipped in 14 points each and Boo Ramsey scored 13 points.
JCJC improves to 4-0, squashing a two-game win run for EMCC, 2-3.

JCJC picked up its third win in a row, also with some big three pointers.
Jasmine Versher, a freshman from Richton, was picked for her first start Wednesday night. She made the most of it, hitting 5-of-8 three-pointers and led the Lady Bobcats with 25 points.

JCJC's only sophomore, Sharon Pendarvis, only hit five points (the only other three-pointer) but Sumrall said her leadership came through tonight.
Taking care of the inside for JCJC, 3-1, was Brittany Baham with 14 points and Natalie Jordan with 10 rebounds.
Leading for the Lady Lions, who fall to 2-3, was Markessa Hughes with 20 points.
JCJC continues its four-game home stand as they host Holmes tonight at 5.
