Body of homeless man found in wooded area

The body of a man found in a tent Sunday will be sent to the state medical examiner's office today for autopsy according to Lauderdale County Deputy Coroner Clayton Cobler.
The body was found in a wooded area near 31st Avenue and South Frontage Road. Cobler said a driver's license was discovered on the body.
Cobler said the body was badly decomposed, but is believed to be that of a white man in his 60s. He estimated that the man had been dead between one and two weeks.
Cobler said someone who was checking on the man's well-being discovered the body and notified police about 3:30 p.m.
Cobler said the cause of death is believed to be natural. He also said he hopes to confirm the man's identity through dental records and possibly fingerprints.
